lunch

Wednesday, March 26th, 2008

Yesterday I had the privilege of joining my son for lunch at his school. His 3rd grade class picks a student (the “star” of the week), and that student can have a lunch guest in addition to being able to bring kid artifacts, and stuffs from home that have importance. It was fun being the center of attention, and Logan was the center of attention because of the strawberry milkshake (a real treat) that he had with his burger. It was a lot of fun for both of us, and quite the change of pace from our normal daily routine.

No photo today, as I can’t get it to work for some reason- aw.. technology. To make up for yesterdays blog, I have for you 2 of the finest examples of thought inspiring kid fun here and here . They’re called Rube Goldberg Machines, and both of these Japanese demonstrations are amazing. I had my Son in the office yesterday, and he went nuts for these. I can remember playing Mouse Trap when I was 6, and loving it for exact same reason these clips are so fantastic.

Planetary Rotations

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

i-shot-screengrab9.jpgDon’t ask me how I came across this one. Please be aware the site is in German. To operate the solar system; press the Space Invaders looking rocketship button. This will launch a smaller window. In the lower left corner you can choose between 3 different views of the solar system. Once you choose, you can speed it up or slow it down. Scroll over the list of planetary names to learn who’s who.

Spring is here finally, for what thats worth (given the terrible weather that some other parts of the country are experiencing right now). If you’re lucky to have sun, go outside and enjoy it!

i-shot-screengrab5.jpgHello everyone, we’re very excited, because we’ve got a few new Pipclips up on the site this week.

A to Z is the story of Ms. P who really only appears to be lost. This is a charming little story about a woman who just needs to get a little organized.

Subway Story is a fun ride on a subway for both people and animals alike. From the award winning Paper Theater, we’re proud to bring you another Annie Poon creation.

Operator is for anyone who ever felt like asking God a funny question.

Stay tuned…

Pippilotta Comestibles Windowshade Curlymint Ephraimsdaughter Longstocking

Pippilotta Comestibles Windowshade Curlymint Ephraimsdaughter Longstocking"?.jpg I’m not quite sure who this little girl is? I’m told that its Pippi Longstocking - but I refuse to believe that. I think its unfortunate that we have great characters, who’re for some inexplicable reason, remodeled and redesigned. I’m certain that along with different adaptations via different platforms, that eventually, somebody is going ignite a trend of rewriting original stories -as if the original needs to be updated, because people won’t understand it for lack of cell phones and hip hop. Pippi is a little girl who doesn’t need school, who posses super human strength, whose mother lives with the angel’s, and father who is the king of the cannibals - her best friends consist of neighborhood kids, a monkey and a horse. I forgot to mention that Pippi carries a gun, a cutlass, and wears clothes too big - Pippi is a swedish cosmic literary outlaw. The new Pippi looks as if she likes to shop, which is fitting for todays children, rather than inspiring adventure via esoteric children’s playing, the new Pippi is fashionable because fashion is what sells.

Mr. Picasso Head

Friday, March 7th, 2008

i-shot-screengrab4.jpgMr. Picasso Head is so much fun, I just had to share it - I’m sure this has been blogged about elsewhere. The idea is simple, and lots of fun for kids. Make your own Picasso painting by assembling a few dozen different (and very characteristic) Picasso facial features and trademarks.

The possibilities really are endless. Apart from entertaining my 9 yr. old for hours, I know there must be people who have a desire to create their own “blue period” picasso painting during their lunch and coffee break.

Don’t be fooled by all the other, lesser, free electronic Picasso painting websites on the web. There is only one Mr. Picasso Head… Accept No Substitutes!!

Purple & Brown

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

ishot-1.pngHere is a treat for you that our Content Producer Skot has dug up - a new character development by Rich Webber from Aardman Animations for Nickelodeon called Purple & Brown. They are simply two blobs with voices (no talking) who enjoy every moment of their simple lives - from burping to chewing gum to dancing to sleeping. I have watched it myself three times - it is absolutely hilarious!!! And my son is in love with them too. Never have a dull moment from now on - just watch an episode from Purple & Brown, and life will be good again!
